FLIGHTS

We recommend arriving in Ireland no later than Thursday evening and departing no earlier than Monday morning.

AIRPORTS

DUBLIN AIRPORT (3 hours) -

Main international hub, this is your best option for flying in and out of from the US or Korea.

SHANNON AIRPORT (2 hours) -

Smaller regional airport with direct flights from the East Coast of the US & Europe. Flights into Shannon may be slightly more expensive and slightly less reliable. If you choose to fly into Shannon you will be greeted by a lovely airport and a beautiful drive through the west of Ireland to Galway.

KNOCK AIRPORT (1.5 hours) -

The closest local airport, an option if you are flying Aer Lingus or Ryanair from another European hub. Not a good option for those flying in from the US.

TRANSPORT

BY CAR

We recommend hiring a rental car if you plan to explore the area beyond the wedding. It is about a 3 hour drive from Dublin Airport to the venue. The country roads in the last hour of driving can be narrow with one way traffic.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

To reach the venue by public transport, take a bus or taxi from Dublin Airport to Heuston Station. From there, take a train to Galway Station. Let us know if you're considering this option - we may organise group transport on Thursday and Sunday between the venue and Galway. Otherwise, you can take a bus or taxi to the venue.

WHERE TO STAY

Accommodation on-site is very limited. We recommend the following local options, all less than 15 minutes drive away:

A nice hotel right in the middle of Clifden. Rates start at €140/night b & b. According to our contact at Ballynahinch, they have a great breakfast!

A nice easy option right in town. We have a confirmed rate of €260/night b & b here, but have occasionally seen slightly better rates listed on their site.

The Station House also has a number of 2 & 3 bed managed apartments available, at €275 & €350 per night respectively. Good if you're travelling in a group.

Located right on the water in the centre of Roundstone, with a great restaurant, Vaughn's, downstairs.

OTHER OPTIONS

There are also other options (Airbnb, guest houses) in the vicinity (ClifdenOpens in new tab, RoundstoneOpens in new tab) if you'd like to explore yourself.

ATTIRE

DAY ONE

For our first day of festivities guests are invited to dress in formal attire with a classic and refined feel. If you've got a dark suit or evening lounge suit in your wardrobe, or a long dress, it'll be perfect. If you'd like an era to look for, think 1930s soirées: a decade of sleek sophisticated silhouettes, high-waisted trousers, and double-breasted suits - timeless elegance.

1930s formal attire inspiration

It's hard to find non black & white photos when searching for 1930s inspiration, but we invite you to come in colour.

Guidelines

  • Colors: Classic evening tones
  • Floor length or tea length gowns in elegant fabrics
  • Dark well tailored suits. Tuxedos also welcome (FYI Oli will not be in a tux)
  • Shoes: The ceremony may include brief walking on cobblestone or grass
  • Layers: Weather in Ireland can be capricious. A layer may come in handy for the short ceremony.

DAY TWO

For our second evening festivities, we invite guests to rinse off their day's activities out in the wild and arrive in smart, clean attire, dressed up or down as you please. This day celebrates a blending of three coastal cultures (California, Ireland, and Korea) and our shared love of the ocean. For styling inspiration, think seaweeds, coastal textures, and fisherman chic.

Coastal smart casual attire inspiration

Guidelines

  • Colors: Neutrals + sea inspired greens
  • Playful comfortable dresses, jumpsuits, or mix-and-match separates
  • Casual suits, sport coats, nice jumpers (sweaters) or button-up shirts

ACTIVITIES

If you would like extend your stay, either before or after the wedding, we have a few additional activities planned, let us know if you are interested in any of the below.

BEFORE

In the lead up to the wedding, we will be around between Dublin and Galway and may host some casual pub meetups.

SATURDAY (DAY TWO)

The only official wedding activity kicks off at 6pm with a cocktail hour leading to dinner at 7pm. Our hope is that folks will take advantage of the day to experience a bit of Connemara, whether that's simply taking a walk around the grounds, or going further afield for a mini day adventure.

A few options for you to mull on

  • There are many exceptional walks starting right at Ballynahinch or within 30 minutes, in addition to a handful of complimentary bikes you can take from the hotel. We'll share some recs soon.
  • Dog's Bay is a 15 minute drive away, an ideal destination for a dip to dust off any cobwebs.
  • There are two lake-side saunas on-site at Ballynahinch.
  • The river running through Ballynahinch is a popular salmon/trout fly-fishing destination. This one requires some planning ahead - it requires booking a gillieOpens in new tab at least 1 month in advance - so let us know if this is something you're definitely interested in and we can see if a group of you would like to go together.

GETTING AROUND

Most activities listed above are either on the grounds at Ballynahinch or no more than a one hour drive away. For those hoping to go out but don't have a car, we are confident that within the group we can organize to carpool/shuttle people to and from through the day.

AFTER

After the wedding, we may head toInisbofin IslandOpens in new tab  for a night.

We have also noticed that theConnemarathonOpens in new tab  is happening on Sunday, April 19th at 11am, for any brave souls who want an amazing run through the west of Ireland...
